| Catamarans lead the fleet to all checkpoints. Vinny Rifice’s Skater Cat named “Color Me Bad”, Michael Bartone’s Skater Cat, “Team Skull”, Joe Rudden’s Skater Cat named “Team Rudden”, were amongst the leaders. The “KING OF THE V-BOTTOMS” AWARD went to John Ruggieri in his 40’ Activator, “White Lightning”, clocking an impressive 110 MPH while running along side of our video/photo helicopter. Tom Abraham won the “QUEEN OF THE SOUND” AWARD with his 72’Azimut Yacht, as his 38’ Cigarette Boat that entered suffered a broken outdrive…as did 7 other contestants that could not finish…the attrition of the challenging seas. Venom Powerboats showcased their new 32 footer and won the “BEST LOOKING BOAT” AWARD and Joe Lupo’s Mercury Racing/Fountain Team were awarded the “BEST LOOKING CREW”. Ryan Friedman in his 38’ Sonic, “Water Damage”, was presented the “YOUNGEST CAPTAIN” Trophy by displaying responsible seamanship and control through-out the course…at a young age of 17. |  |  |
